Following the grant of outline planning consent for residential development and subsequent trial trench evaluation which identified medieval activity within the site, GHC were commissioned to negotiate the scheme of mitigation, tender the work and manage the fieldwork and post-excavation process. The archaeological excavation revealed remains of a previously unknown windmill mound dating to the 13th – 14th century and a, possibly contemporary, grain drying oven. With GHC's management all works were completed to time and budget giving our client a ‘clean’ site and discharged condition.
